SmartSteader began as a humble, yet very helpful, set of printable worksheets for homesteader’s to use in their Homestead Management Binder. The printables allowed for homesteader’s and gardeners to organize and schedule homesteading tasks, track expenses in the garden or barnyard, record how much they were growing, and more.

But it wasn’t convenient. A clunky binder doesn’t easily go with you into the garden. Dirty hands soil the pages. At the end of the month there is all the math of adding up production and expenses.

And we thought, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was an app that does all that for you?” “What if we could have our homestead management records with us whereever we go- ready to access when we need them?”

In 2016 Bill & Quinn hosted a butchering workshop where they met Neil & Lindsey who had also learned the value of keeping homestead records. They had the skills to bring the homestead management binder into the 21st century and SmartSteader was born.
